Here’s how it went For the past 5 days, I’ve been tracking coins mainly through Fomo App and GMGN while focusing heavily on the hype around Robinhood Chain. A big part of my strategy was taking double-sided LP positions on coins where I thought the volume and momentum could sustain. During the first 2 days, my win rate was around 83%. Then things started getting more difficult. As more attention came into the ecosystem, it also felt like more ruggers started moving over from other chains. I took some painful losses on a few double-sided positions. Still, most days ended with a level of profit I was happy with. One thing that helped me mentally was keeping my position sizes around the amounts I’m already used to trading with. As the account grew, I regularly moved profits out instead of constantly increasing my position size.That made it much easier to stay comfortable and avoid letting the bigger numbers completely change how I traded. And then there was the real boss fight: the Uniswap interface. There were moments where using it was genuinely painful.But weirdly, that also created an edge. When liquidity is difficult to deploy and manage, getting into the right pool early can sometimes leave you with a much bigger piece of the pie while everyone else is still fighting with the interface. This means that makers are at a DISADVANTAGE compared to takers. At least a 150ms taker delay levels the playing field a bit. "But Kalshi has no taker delay?" Sure. But Kalshi also has a functioning CLOB. Kalshi does not have 250ms+ cancel latency spikes. On Kalshi, there is a clear and well-documented path towards getting FIX and VPC. Polymarket is behind. If and when Polymarket catches up in infra and releases their Rust rewrite and gets their P99 cancel down to 10ms and makes a VPC connection available to all serious participants, then perhaps a shorter taker hurdle makes sense. A 2024 paper (link below) showed that chess engines can reach grandmaster strength simply by distilling the judgments of a strong chess engine, estimating an "action-value" function of the current position and available legal moves, and maximizing this value function, without any explicit tree search or look-ahead. This is somewhat shocking. It's intuitive that a grandmaster playing bullet chess is doing something like this, but one would have guessed they were still doing some calculation, very quickly. Apparently though, an extremely high level can be reached by assigning a good move to a given position without calculating lines. Chess is, in this sense, more compressable than it seems it should be. Something analogous has now happened with models in analytical reasoning. They can reach an extremely high level without actually having to do the calculation to figure things out. Somehow, the mapping from analytical problems to good answers contains enough shared structure that a surprisingly large fraction of what looks like problem-specific computation can be compressed into model weights (i.e. Hilbert and Russell vindicated, approximately?). More reason to think we will soon have models with superhuman mathematical intuition, and superhuman analytical reasoning more generally. I think people are very quick to anthropomorphize LLM intelligence because humans communicate through words and we infer the intelligence of human counterparties through comprehension of their language, but this leads them to wrong conclusions; for example if we observe that a new model proved some incredible mathematical theorem, some will say, “well, don’t we have AGI now, huh?” But to me, it’s actually more like, “well, given how hard it would have been for a human to do these mathematics, and given the limited economic effect of LLMs upon the world so far, isn’t it actually a negative datapoint vis-a-vis the generality of LLM intelligence?” [ai-research, philosophy]
